Track of colour

This colourful roadside verge near Musselburgh has been sown with wild flowers that were once common in the local countryside. This should help with the decline in bees as the flowers provide nectar and pollen and should flower right through to October and November. Some other verges and roundabouts are being planted with special wildflower mixtures and apart from being attractive, areas like this are also cost effective as they require less maintenance.
