Back to basics

After our quick trip to the market, and a stop at our favourite boulangerie for too much bread, too many cakes and some unnecessary macarons, home for some lazy veg planting and lunch. This afternoon's main activity was Conor's trial lesson on a pony. As you can see, he was not the only one who was having a little difficulty with the basics...*

All went well: he didn't fall off and smiled pretty much all the time. He did, however, seem more into the business of getting the tack on and off and brushing the pony than the regular riding bit. He has put riding in third place after basketball and football, which with the limited time available means he will not be doing it this year I think. This is a relief for my bank balance - with riding being seven times as expensive as any other sport.

Home for more plant planting, and some seed sowing, and some "embarrassing" (I'm told) dancing around to 80s music. Katherine said of Prince (it was 'Kiss' I think) that she quite liked the song but the singing was terrible. Sigh. We have some way to go.

*Obviously it was actually an exercise in balance - they had to swing one leg over to be side saddle, then the other to be facing backwards, and so on until they were back to the regular position.
