The High Street

My Thursday "After Work" camera fix saw me heading back to the Itchen River and navigations . Tonight I used the SatNav to find a car park closer to Winchester City Centre, and strolled the final mile or so into the city along the River.

This route went through some of the medieval areas of the city I had never explored before. In particular it was fascinating to see how the river splits and weaves its way though culverts and gullies: indeed the Itchen Navigations were originally built to divert the river to reduce flooding.

I finished up in the high street at around closing time and rather liked this view up the hill in the late afternoon sun, before retracing my steps but to the car and home.
