Mama Bear

After a day of kayaking and canoeing, we went on a bear and beaver observation tour in the evening. I had been a bit apprehensive about heading into the forest where we knew there would be bears, but the tour guide was extremely reassuring and clearly very passionate about all the wildlife. Seeing the bears was amazing! We watched Mama Bear have some dinner, and then when she sensed we were there (we were watching from a little hut) she sent her three cubs up a tree to hide. Apparently this is what mother bears do when they want to protect their young. After a while we were able to watch all three cubs make their way back down the tree to join their mother, as she was sleeping at the bottom of the tree. It was incredible! We then went to see the beavers: not quite as thrilling I must admit but still very worth seeing.

There are a couple of extras today.
