Anna of the Five Towns

At our local Theatre in the Round to see 'Anna'. It is part of the Arnold Bennett 150 year celebration. B tells me that Bennett chose to use 'five towns' because he thought 'Anna of the Six Towns' didn't sound as good.
The play captured the period beautifully and was enhanced by some great music, singing and (as you can see) photographs. I felt that the plot lacked some of the darkness of Bennett's novel
