Santa Maria Maddalena

This coming Saturday there is a beer festival in a park in Ossuccio, about a twenty minute walk from the apartment. We decided to walk over there today just to be sure we knew exactly where it was should we decide to go.

We then walk down to the lake, passing the church of Santa Maria Maddalena. The church is famous for its bell tower "It has a square plan and it is built in masonry, made of Moltrasio stone blocks. The belfry protrudes from the structure and it is decorated with hanging arches and round bas-reliefs, probably made in terracotta and other materials. The construction of the tower dates back to the twelfth century, while the cell was added between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries."

Having reached the lake we had lunch at the Magaluf Cafe at the Lido di Ossuccio. A hot walk back to Lenno where we called in at the supermarket. We discovered the new "Open All Day" hours do not apply to the deli counter which was where we were headed. So empty handed we returned to the apartment.
