We woke up early this morning after a fantastic dinner last night.

Before we arrived yesterday afternoon at the lodge, we noticed a calf on the side of the road...a calf that didn't look well. Being that we were staying at a cattle ranch, we told the owners of the ranch/lodge and told them what mile marker we saw the calf.

A couple hours later, they showed up and asked if we wanted to see "our calf." They found it, and turns out it was most likely a twin that was rejected by it's mom.

Basically it will have to be bottle fed for many months and would have most likely died if we hadn't seen it.

We woke up this morning and head directly to the ranch to feed it. I must say...first time I have pet a calf, let alone bottle fed a 2 day old calf. What a great experience. And the ranch was originally homesteaded in the 1800's. Talk about history and amazing photo opportunities.

What an awesome place this is. Sometimes I think we could head out into the middle of nowhere, make a life there, and not turn back :)

And off to Jacksonville we go.

But not before we get a flat tire on 4 day old tires in the absolute middle of nowhere :)

*This isn't the two day old calf we found/fed, but another two calves the ranch hand was nursing back to health.
