Walking Day

Saturday 17th June 2017 (1757)

Why wasn't it as hot as this last Saturday for the swim??

A very hot day for our annual Walking Day. Once again we started with a very short service in church with approx 800 people, mainly children. Then it was out into the heat for the two mile walk through the village. The streets were lined with people, and the crowds were deep outside the pubs in the village centre as everyone stood outside with their drinks to watch the parade. Five bands and lots of banners, all churches, schools and local organisations took part. The whole village looks forward to this day.

Tea in the hall for the children afterwards. The village smells of BBQs as people celebrate together and the fairground on the church field is doing a roaring trade. Our part is over but the celebrations will continue on into the evening.

I still have a lot to do to prepare for tomorrow, which is another big day. It's all systems go at the moment!
