Orange Hawkweed Daisy

I was sitting on the patio this morning reading tips on taking photographs of plants and flowers by Tammy Marlar.  The lens that made her fall in love with flower photography was the Canon 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM macro - the same lens that is on my camera nearly 50% of the time according to my Blip statistics for focal lengths used!

So I grabbed the camera, which already had the aforementioned lens fitted, and took some hand-held shots of the flowers just catching the morning sun.  I still have some way to go to match Tammy's work, but it's fun trying.

Note for our USA friends- this is apparently an invasive weed in some states. Pity - it is very pretty!
