Waste not

There are regular reminders in India of the many contrasts that exist between developing countries and the industrialised world; one standout is the amount of wastage which is generated in the West due to over consumption and the quick disposal of items such as fast fashion, the reluctance to repair things and the propensity instead to replace.

Also the need for keeping up with latest tech gadget trends, new phones and the focus on perfect 'looking' food. While many in the world are malnourished or starve to death, the US is throwing out half its yield.

It's ironic then that the developing countries which are comparatively small contributors to landfills are pressured in global environmental summits to be signatories to accords that are being written up by a majority comprised of the guilty; the bulk of the waste creators of the industrialised West.

Here DM are temporarily fixing a clothesline with some metal wire which will later be soldered by a handyman down the road. They have used this clothesline for over 10 years on a daily basis.
