We have arrived!

And here it is, the day has come. We've arrived in Thailand (Bangkok to be more precise, the Ramada Plaza to be even more precise) We had a bit of a moment finding our driver (oh yes we travelled in style and booked a driver to take us to the hotel) as he had decided that it would be a better use of his time to go sleep on some seats away from the arrivals stand where he should have been waiting for us. Anyway, someone went to wake him up and before you knew it we were travelling through all kinds of busy highways/motorways/autobahns/delete as appropriate on our way to the hotel.

I spotted a grand total of 7 stray dogs wandering the streets and Samantha saw a kid sat in the back of a Toyota Hilux truck with no back to it playing on his phone. I can't wait to see what kind of other Health and Safety disasters we see while we're here.

On arrival we were treated to a bellboy (busboy? Luggage carrier person) taking it upon himself to carry both our backpacks into the hotel by himself, I tried to offer my help but he was adament he would do it so I left him to it.

The picture above is the bed we were greeted with when we entered the room. You see we had put ourselves down as a hunnymoon couple (no, there was no quickie wedding in our 2hour stop over in India on the way) so someone talented person folded some towels into swan shapes and a heart for us. To her surpise Samantha was also given some flowers (which made her blush a bit but shush its our 'hunnymoon').

Despite everyone saying Thailand would be really hot and we wouldn't be able to deal with the heat our first day here has been overcast and a measly 26°C (i'm taking a guess here as I didn't actually check the temperature, its just what it felt like) Later on in the day we also got first hand experience of a Thai thunderstorm which was fun (made even more fun with free cocktails and alcoholic beverages not 5feet from the waters edge, thanks again 'hunnymoon' booking)

After a pretty epic first day in Thailand (the amount of times i've said "we're living the dream" today is becoming a joke!) we're about to sit down amd watch some Doctor Who (No, not the new episode, we can't get BBC iPlayer here so we're making do with Matt Smiths first season).

It might be a while before we get some more wifi access so take comfort with the knowledge that we're here safe, we're living the dream, and we towel swans.
