Waiting Line

Annual cycling races in Ilkey tonight and as usual there was a good turn out.
We are wild about cycling in this part of the world.
Crowds lined the whole route on a very hot and sticky evening.
Lots of spectators including Verity and Ruby had come straight from the local tennis club where the biggest tournament of the year was being held.
We stood with them and other friends and family and spent a very pleasant few hours watching the different races.
Heavy rain and thunder and lightning was expected but only one brief downpour near the end of the final race helped cool us down.
Took this photograph of one of the races where the riders were being kept at the starting line until the flag waved them off. Loved the look on their faces as they waited to set off.
Noticed a lot of the cyclists were wearing touches of red so have given this shot a colour splash to accentuate the prominent shade.
I've put the original in my extras.
