Druids ?.....

..... on the moor.

This evening after work I had planned to have a bike ride with Mr M, but the rain was hammering down at 5pm when we had arranged to meet. Neither of us can be described as fair weather people but a bike ride in really heavy rain isn't too much fun, so after a phone call we decided a run on the moor would be a better option.

As soon as we set off the rain susided to a gentle drizzle and with the cool air made for lovely running conditions. Halfway up hangingstone road there was a policeman turning cars around preventing them heading up towards the cow and calf, apparently there had been a crash further down the road beyond the cow and calf hotel. We were fine to continue on our run and luckily were not going as far as the scene.

As we turned off the the road and started running towards the Cow and calf rocks on the moor, the sound of beautiful African style singing could be heard and it became louder as we approached the quarry. As soon as we climbed so that we were level with the quarry entrance this was the sight that greeted us. The singing was amplified by the walls of the quarry and was absolutley beautiful. Myself and Mr M stopped for less than a minute to take in the sight and sounds and then carried on our run over the moor although I could have easily stayed for hours listening.

I dont know who these people are but from the white robes and with all the pagan monuments on the moor I'm guessing maybe they are druids ? Spartan had told me about encountering 'nuns in white robes' when he's been running on the moor before and I'd guess these are the same people. Whoever they are I'm glad we had the good fortune to be able to hear their beautiful singing this evening, it really brightend up the run.

So today's blip is .....

..... Druids ? on the moor.
