Blue Glimmer over Loch Linnhe

Arran - Fort William Day 4
Connel to Corran Ferry

Cycled: today 56.8km, total 254.4km
Climb: today 524m, total 3131m

Highlight: the tarmac path laid on the old track bed of the disused Oban to Ballachulish railway made for a largely flat route today. A welcome relief after yesterday's hills alongside Loch Awe.

Lowlight: cycling companion John had a nasty fall whilst clipped into his pedals. Just some grazes and a sore elbow but could have been much worse. Reconfirmed my decision to stay away from these!

What else? the 4 miles of cycle path between North Ballachulish is a huge benefit, keeping cyclists off the A82 race track to Fort William. Apparently it cost a million but has probably paid back in reduced visits to A&E, or worse.

Photo: some great seascapes along the route today, with the sun even trying to make a reappearance - although generally unsuccessfully!
