I went to Glasgow mid-afternoon to attend a talk in honour of my PhD supervisor (who died last year). It was part of a conference I'm not attending, because it's drifted too far from my field of interest in recent years, but I felt I had to be there. Indeed, I think I was the only student of his to be there. After the talk, I went to eat in a bar with my PhD student and a colleague, and we met up with a fellow researcher I've known well for many years for a lovely hour of chat. Finally we went to the he conference drinks reception in the City Chambers before taking the train back to Edinburgh.
