Cost of living

After working out with my trainer this morning, I had another doctor appointment, then headed to Central Market to do some grocery shopping.  I've had to drastically change my diet, so I spend a lot of time inspecting food and reading labels, and being shocked by the high cost of everything.  I love artichokes and was pleased to see this fine display, until I saw the price sign.  $5 for one artichoke!  Since I live on Social Security, with rent taking 2/3 of my income, prices like these make some foods prohibitively expensive.  Nonetheless, I enjoyed browsing the aisles, seeing what new and interesting things there were to see.
