Thistle Season

After two days and nights of rain, I can't believe how much the hedgerows have grown, spreading across our rural lanes so the two sides almost meet, further narrowing our already narrow roads.

And rain's the reason it's suddenly thistle season. These little flies, certainly moved in quickly, enjoying the flowers. I think they're most likely a sort of hoverfly, and they'll be collecting nectar.
