Shaldon & Dawlish

We had a very nice day at the start of our holiday. This morning we walked along Shaldon beach to The Clipper Café for coffee. It would appear that someone had been before us and constructed some beach art. This was the first 'installation' a very clever self-supporting arch and a pile of stones, creating a very pleasing sculpture of textures and colours. Further on was a stone boat complete with mast.

Lunch was taken sitting on a bench overlooking the estuary, then the steep climb back to the chalet for a relax on the balcony overlooking the sea.

Later we went over to Dawlish where we walked the sea wall from the station to Dawlish Warren. The sandstone cliff textures and colours are wonderful and there are large caves at the Warren end of the walk. I have put a couple of the Dawlish Warrren Red Rock cliff photos here.

Finally we walked back to Colin's flat where we prepared tea of stuffed mushrooms with sweet potatoes and broccoli whilst waiting for him to come home from work.

All in all a very pleasant day.
