We caught a very early bus to Grassington, then hiked up and onto the Limestone ridge, heading to Kettlewell. The clouds were amazing, the landscape stunning, We avoided getting too wet from passing showers by sheltering by the large stone walls that criss-cross the fell. We descended into Kettlewell for lunch, then took the river path to the picturesque village of Starbotton, passing along the way a number of old stone barns and mature trees. The original intention was to walk further but too many stops for photos meant that we ran a bit short of time and Earthdreamer kindly offered me a choice between a run for the last 2 miles to catch the bus up the valley at Buckden, or a short bimble across the river to Starbotton. I wisely chose the latter.

Delighted this evening to meet Spartan for a drink. His blips of Ilkley Moor have always been very inspiring and his images of his Greek home place have put his country high on my travel wish list. I look forward to eating and growing the beautiful magic beans he gave to me as a present.
