Village Gala

It was the annual village gala today and the special attraction was a 'bird of prey and lurcher racing' display team!

The flying demonstration mostly went to plan - until a red kite decided to put in an appearance  overhead which spooked the birds and one flew off into a nearby garden and refused to come back.  It was eventually retrieved but didn't fly again! First extra is of one of the birds 'sulking'...I can't even remember what type of bird it is!

The lurchers were great fun to watch as they chased a lure attached to a rope that was wound around some pulleys so that it kept changing direction. Difficult to get anything in focus and not too much movement so this is the best of a bad bunch.

After the display they invited any dogs into the arena to have a go - that was chaos as some just didn't get it and some wandered off - but a few were game and had a whale of a time - see second extra for a couple of small dogs giving it their best...
