'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'

The opening of the Luxor Egyptian & European Film Festival opened last night, at the Culture Centre in Awamia, Luxor.

Egyptian and European Actors, Writers, Screenwriters and Film Directors have descended upon this City, to be a part of the first Festival of it's kind here.

Presenting 64 films, from 21 European Countries and Egypt (which for the first time have subtitles in Arabic) Winners will be chosen (By a prestigious jury) for the Feature Film and Short Film categories.

The evening began with a haunting and heartstopping display of the Dervish followed by welcome speeches from;

The President of Noon Foundation of Culture and Art, Dr. Mohamed Kamel El Qaliouby.

Egyptian Writer and Novelist, Mr Bahaa Taher.

Minister of Culture, His Excellency, Mr Mohamed Saber Arab.

The Governor of Luxor, His Excellency, Dr.Ezzat Saad.

The very energetic and comedic actor, Mr Ahmed Helmy!

Sitting in the front row, with a constant stream of well wishers, admirers and photograph hunters, Laila Elwi. Avery famous Egyptian actress, that has starred in over 70 films!

A lively, energetic, entertaining and interesting evening. With back to back films for 5 days at various locations in the City and free entry to the Historic sites of Luxor, with our invitations...it is going to be a busy week!
