Two's company

... three's a crowd!

I believe these are common red soldier beetles (Rhagonycha fulva) on meadowsweet.

It's been another glorious summer's day. Went for a walk along the 'new' stretch of coastal path - now probably three years old or so - that runs from Strete to Strete Gate, dropping about 300 feet to sea-level. Spent a short time gazing at the calm, deep blue sea, and then carried on walking along the path by Slapton Ley, a freshwater nature reserve, separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land. This is where I spotted these busy beetles! Saw only two butterflies on the whole walk, but lots of bees.

Talking of bees, thank you for all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for my yesterblip. Hope you're having a lovely weekend, blipmates!
