Gently down the stream

Estuary geese

As well as the sea, Canyamel has an estuary and the only important piece of wetland in Mallorca. Walked a little way along it and found the comparison with the wetlands around Winchester really interesting. The bullrushes are much smaller than here, the reeds hugely much taller - up to 5 metres. I saw bindweed which has bright pink trumpets instead of white, coots and moorhens just the same as the ones here, little egrets and even caught a glimpse of a night heron. These geese live on the bank by the road, just under the barrier so they don't get trodden on. They're noisy and funny and although not tame they kept the tourists in order. I'm posting this shot because it made me laugh.

Went to a lovely restuarant for supper last night - tonight was an equally wonderfuly picnic on the beach as the sun went down.
