Rouge Observation Tower

Today was the long distance race for both the World Championships and our spectator race. The timings were such we could only watch the early women start on the big screen. Our start and finish was remote from the arena.

The courses were through tough technical terrain and it was easy to loose a lot of time trying to read vague contour detail. Two big errors on the first two controls meant I nearly gave up but persevered and did much better later on.

This tower was situated in the assembly field. It resembles the Storks nests which are built to encourage the birds to nest. I did not venture up as I am not a lover of heights and I would not have enjoyed the see through floor!

The weather improved today with only the odd thunderstorm rumbling around on the journey home.
