Swanage Railway: new departures

This month a scheduled train service between Wareham and Swanage is in operation - for the first time since 1972.  Steam trains still travel only between Swanage and Norden, it is diesel engines which take the trains from Swanage to Wareham.

Passengers are permitted to break their journey, so they could for instance travel by steam to Corfe Castle, then wait to catch the diesel service up to Wareham.

P.S. This timetable is at Swanage Station, giving departure times from Swanage.  The journey one way takes a little under an hour - or two hours there and back - so there is plenty of time to enjoy the countryside.
