The neighbouring bowab

A lot of buildings/apartments here hove bowabs, also known as guards, caretakers etc, some say former secret police. They watch the parking spaces in front of buildings, keep the common areas clean and make sure only the right people go into the building. Some also do odd jobs and errands. The job is typically done by men.

This lovely lads works in the neighbouring building. We say hello almost every day. She speaks in Arabic, me in English. Somehow we understand and it's always nice.

Very sad to say goodbye to each other today after almost three years in one building.
