In the morning, a reasonably large procession of bikes trundled up to meet the reasonably large crowd of people already waiting on the footway, all of a mind that this could have been prevented. When the tracks were laid and the roads re-opened, we complained, at Haymarket, the Mound, South St Andrew Street, West Maitland Street, Haymarket Yards, South Charlotte Street and here. Wingnuts on newspaper comment sections imagine that cyclists and tram tracks used to co-exist peacefully; the major difference is that now there are far more non-tram vehicles driven by impatient and selfish bastards riding up your mudguards whilst you go through the sections where there are tracks to carefully negotiate.
