Chilled

Despite the high temperatures another chilled day in Dublin. We wandered around Merrion Square enjoying a mini festival, with food stalls, lots for kids and lots of kids.. Some great African music, street performers and the like.
Then off to Lucan to meet up with Kate and Kenny and head back into the city on the bus for the Bell X1 gig in Trinity. One of my favourite Irish bands. The bus trip in was a demonstration of how diverse Ireland and especially Dublin has become as the variety of ethnic origins travelling in was a far cry from my younger days. A great buzz in the city. Kenny, a staunch Kilkenny supporter was anxious, to put it mildly, to catch the Kilkenny-Waterford match on TV before the gig. We caught the first half in a pub, besieged by several hen parties, and bar staff struggling to keep up.
Then the gig, a great night, though live gigs are always a balance between the twit with the annoying voice nearby, the pain in your back from standing, the mental toss-up between another plastic cup pint and how hard it is to get to the jaks..
But then, there's a few songs, where the band and the crowd really gel and you know why you went to the trouble.
