Robin Hood and Little John

Today was mostly a day of recovery and trying to catch up with washing, not to mention preparing for Ben's 21st birthday on Friday. Mid-morning I popped out to meet Professor Stephen Upex, who is working on the historical aspects of the Castor study.

He was in the area to oversee the re-erection of two standing stones, Robin Hood and Little John, which are thought to date from the Medieval period and may have marked the route by which Barnack stone was hauled down to the river for transport to the cathedrals of Peterborough and Ely. At this point one of the restorers had just found a coin under the stone - possibly put there for luck or to indicate when the stone was erected - and handed it to Stephen to examine.

This exciting project was being filmed by Lester Milbank, the cameraman who followed Pete and me around on Saturday!
