Fairy lochs

The rain stopped overnight and today was very pleasant, warm and quite sunny.
This morning we launched the kayaks and paddled around the bay for a bit of practice and then round the island to land outside where we're staying, about an hour  in all. (no pics as the priority was staying afloat!).
In the afternoon we walked up past the Fairy Lochs to the war grave where 15 people died on June 13th 1945. A USAAF Liberator bomber was flying back to the USA with 9 crew and 6 other servicemen when it somehow strayed too far east, hit Slioch and then crashed in the low hills south of Gairloch, killing all on board. All but one were 30 or under, a very sad end to their war service. There's a memorial with some of the wreckage (see extra) and various parts scattered around.
After the walk we returned "home" and enjoyed the sun, ate mushroom risotto with seafood (provided by our landlord - see extra) and drank my winnings from last week.
