We stayed in Martinborough last night and awoke to very thick fog - thicker than the fog we get at home. By the time we hit SH2 at Featherston, the sun was out.

We travelled 270km today, and decided to stay a couple of days in Napier, mainly to try and avoid the terrible weather that has been forecast for the next few days.

As the sun went down, we went for a walk along Marine Parade, on the foreshore. It was lovely there, and after the lovely warm day (it reached a warm 16 degrees C this afternoon) it really wasn't that cold.

It's been great seeing a bit of the country that we don't normally travel, and to see the farming land as we go past. We saw some newly born lambs this morning - I hope they will have some shelter from the cold weather that is approaching.
