Every Picture Tells .....

Tangwick, Shetland

TUESDAY

Another warm and sunny day. We explored Northmavine which is the most northerly part of the mainland.

Highlights included Mavis Grind, where just a thin strip of land separates the Atlantic from the North Sea, over which boats and their cargoes were dragged to avoid the long sea journey round the northern tip of the island.

Crab salad lunch on the beach at Tangwick where we were soon joined by a group of inquisitive seals.

We saw the spectacular cliffs and coastal scenery at Eshaness, then over to Sullom Voe, a trip to the beach a Muckle Roe and then a fish supper at Frankie's Fish and Chip Restaurant at Brae - reputedly the most northerly chippy in the U.K.

Today's blip of a seal photobomb was taken by Harriet at Tangwick.
