Degas, Impressionism and a Well-Dressed Visitor

Today's art experience was at the Legion of Honor: Degas, Impressionism and the Paris Millinery Trade. This woman came dressed for the occasion and more pictures were taken of her than of the paintings. "Any excuse to wear a hat," she said, somewhat slyly. The exhibit was more interesting from historical and sociological perspectives than from an artistic viewpoint. We had trouble playing the "Pick the Painting You Want to Take Home" game; only a couple things caught our fancy, but I wouldn't mind taking one of the big fancy hats!

The extra is a view from one of the Stairway Walks of San Francisco, wonderful urban hikes that reveal unexpected and awesome vistas of the city, as detailed in a book by Adah Bakalinsky. This time we went up and down hills and hidden staircases in Diamond Heights and Glen Park.
