Carpe Diem

Have you seen the film Dead Poets Society from 1989, starring Robin Williams?  There is a scene near the start of the film where he and his class look at team photographs of school students from long ago. He asks his students what all the young men in the photographs have in common. The common factor is that they are all dead(!) because so much time has passed since the photographs were taken. The point is that everyone dies,  life is for living and the students should seize the day, carpe diem!
I was reminded of that memorable scene when I came across a collection of class photos from the late 1930's up to the mid 1950's. Anyone who stayed at school until they were 18/19 years old in those days was either extremely clever, with a scholarship, or came from the upper classes.
Despite that they are now mostly dead and any survivors are in their mid 90's. An added irony is that their names have all been lost, and if anyone viewing the pictures knew any of the people  in the photographs they should add their names.
I hope they had good lives and seized the day!
Carpe Diem!
(...and if you haven't seen Dead Poets Society go and watch it!)
