Enjoying the evening sun

A Marmalade Hoverfly perched on the florets of a Globe Thistle, making the most of the evening sun for a last feed. 

I've spent much of the day preparing for a couple of days of field survey at Kedleston Park. We're off early tomorrow morning, leaving Chris, Lizzy and Ben to look after the house. Alex usually feeds the cats, but he's working away from home this week, so I'm hoping that someone else will take on his duties. I'm sure the cats won't allow themselves to be starved!!
