Unimpressed!

It seems a day in my fridge has not gone down too well with this male Broad-bordered yellow underwing, Luckily he will be released later, right next to the female which will hopefully make him feel better!
The Broad-bordered yellow underwing Noctua fimbriata, is a large (wingspan 45 - 55mm) moth, common in Britain. It shows marked sexual dimorphism, with the males (like this one) shades of darker brown and the females more orangey-buff. It flies in one generation from July to September and is a common visitor to my garden.
