Dawlish

We had a wander through the town centre park and down to the beach at Dawlish this morning, from where this shot was taken.

From there we strolled along the coastal path beside the railway line that was infamously washed away during the winter storms a couple of years ago.

We had to stop at a celebrated local produce shop, Gay's Creamery, for elevenses. I can recommend the apple and mincemeat pie if ever you're passing!

The park is home to the black swans which are a symbol of the town; there have been swans in the park (almost) continuously since the early 1900s along with other exotic ducks and geese (see extras).

With the weather looking a bit dubious after such a bright morning, we spent the afternoon in the indoor pool, followed by what has become a ritual of pre-dinner drinks in the hot tub
