River of Flowers

Thursday: Gŵyl Tysilio Festival

Another sunny day at Church Island for the festival.
Fewer visitors today but everyone wanted to become a Friend and many made donations too.
Lunchtime talk was on "Welsh Herbal Traditions" dating back to the 7th century when the Saint set up the church

We walked around the island looking at what is in flower at the moment, all very interesting.
Extra photos of the flower festival inside the small church. Also kayakers on the Straits and a red squirrel :-))
The bunting in the photo is fascinating: all of the pieces having hand sewn hems and all sewn by hand to the tape. It was very long too, covering all four walls of the small church (see yesterday's blip) a true labour of love ❤️
