An ordinary life....

The Day after the Day Before...

Despite our late night / early morning we were all up, bright and breezy, by the crack of midday.

David wasted no time in getting the bacon, sausage and egg on the go, ably assisted by Agnes (the vegetarian!) after which we lallygagged for a while skipping between the British British Grand Prix, the Scottish Open and Wimbledon.

After a while the excitement got too much for us and we took ourselves off to Broadslap for coffee and strawberry tarts (apple crumble cheesecake for Adrian) before heading back to ours, via the Coop with bags full of goodies for a BBQ.

After a catch up with the sports and some BBQ prep (chicken and veg kebabs) we headed to the Gin Palace where Agnes and I lollygagged some more, whilst Adrian kept David's glass topped up as he slaved over the venison burgers, chicken drumsticks and kebabs.  It all tasted delicious with salad and a chilled glass of Rosé.

All too soon it was time for Agnes and Adrian to head off home with that weekend-ending-soon-it-will-be-Monday feeling.  We all agree we'd had a very lovely weekend.

There were many side splitting moments this weekend but one of the best was Agnes telling us about her eventful journey to work one day last week when, as she got on the very busy train to Glasgow, she realised just as the train doors closed that her right shoe had fallen off as she embarked and was not on the train with her.  The train then moved off leaving her with the mortifying realisation that she was heading to the city centre and work, wearing only one shoe!

When she got off at Glasgow Queen Street station, she walked as briskly as she could (fortunately it wasn't raining) holding her bag out in front of her right foot in the hope of disguising the fact she was shoeless (she wasn't caring about the people behind her, just the ones in front :-)

She stumbled into the first shoe shop she saw and desperately tried on shoes but having wider than average feet, none of them fitted!  Eventually she found the wider fitting section, picked up the first pair of shoes she saw and hallelujah they fitted.

She took them to the cashier who asked if she wanted a bag for them.  "No thanks" she said as she slipped them on to her feet and walked out of the shop with her head held high.

After walking about 20 paces she realised something wasn't right.  Her relief at having quickly sourced a pair of shoes turned to irritation as with every other step she kept walking out of them.  She stopped, picked one up, looked inside and realised in her blind panic to get a pair of shoes, she'd picked up a size 9!

And here demonstrates one of the reasons I have loved this girl since we were 8 years old.   She makes me look sensible!  :-)))
