A Castle in the Air

.... above Montreux, Caux Palace Hôtel. It is not famous like the Chateau de Chillon but, in the Belle Epoch, from when it was built as a hotel in 1902, till the beginning of the Second World War, it was "the" place to stay for the rich. It has undergone several transformations since it first went bankrupt but it has stayed faithful to the avant garde idea, "If Switzerland is spared by war, our task will be to put at the disposal of Frank Buchman a place where Europeans, torn apart by hatred, suffering and resentment, will be able to meet each other. Caux is the place. So a major conference centre for conflict resolution has been set up and during term times the Swiss Hotel School uses the premises as well. Now if I had not been in hospital I would never have learned about this fairytale building and it seems to fit the mono Monday theme of "lines". Hoping to be out tomorrow...... hurray.
