The Old Forge (Sunday 16th July 2017)

The first fruit from the medlar!

I only copied this from the card today and discovered it isn't as good as it looked on the LED screen, but as it was yesterday I can't re-take it. It will serve as historical record.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Supremes - Can I Get A Witness? (recorded 20 April 1966, Hitsville, Detroit MI)
Over this and the following days I have been exploring the Expanded 2CD edition of the Supremes album The Supremes A' Go-Go, originally released in August 1966. This a version of Marvin Gaye's hit (on which the Supremes provided back-up vocals) that was prepared for the album but not used. It was newly mixed for release on Never-Before-Released Masters in 1987 and then in its original mix on Motown Sings Motown Treasures in 1998. Both had a vocal recorded separately by Diana Ross on 27 April, but here for the first time is a slightly longer version with Diana's vocal recorded at the same time as Flo and Mary's (and without some overdubs added in May 1966).
