Confused (co-fuses?) seasons

I eat butternut squash 12 months a year. Never mind local, seasonal produce. Nothing will part me with my pumpkins.

But here have springtime and my back yard jungle has been taken over by nasturtium. I wanted to be clever and sowed the seeds of a giant kind. Usually nothing grows from my seeds. Now I know it is nothing except for giant nasturtium. I was told the flowers are edible, but why would I?
