We dragged our asses half way across spain in the rain today in the search for wild desert landscapes. We were going to spend the night in Cabo de Gata as I had vague memories of it being this very laid back and hippified area...not in mid winter with crappy weather it isn't - it was very bleak, very cold and very depressing so we turned back and headed home so all in all, around 8 hours of driving for very little in return. Not the best of days and I love road trips normally. There were a few interesting landscapes though with all the thousands of cacti and their weird spikes. M managed to walk into one when he was too busy looking through his viewfinder. Lots of blood and talk of amputation later and we manged to convince him that he wasn't going to die.
This is an abandoned church outside the grotty town of Salinas, you can just about see the mountain behind shrouded in cloud.
