Saltwell Park

Today I visited a Saltwell Park, a lovely 55 acre Victorian park situated in Gateshead.  I met my friend and her little girl and we had a brilliant time feeding the ducks and swans, having a ride on the little train that chugs around, etc.

Bread is now classed as the equivalent of junk food for ducks so my friend had looked up what to feed them and it said peas were one of the things that was fine.  I can vouch that they did absolutely love the peas.

The extra is of Saltwell Towers.  It is now the parks cafe but was originally a mansion belonging to a stained glass merchant.  He sold the mansion and some his the estate to Gateshead Council in the 1870's.
