Starling

Emma gave me this feeding ball she had bought in the Eden Project for my birthday. The idea being one or two suet balls are held inside and small birds such as bluetits hang onto the grid and enjoy their treat.

Well it didn't quite work out like that, in fact the only bird interested in the fat balls is this young starling. The smaller birds ignore it for now. Unfortunately he finds it a little challenge, having to stand on the edge of the water dish, flap his wings and as can be seen, hop up on one leg to get his beak well into the ball. You would think he would give up and be satisfied with the other food available, but no, he is a determined little bird returning each day for his stretching exercises.

I shall keep the feeder well stocked, just for him.
