It was amazing to watch the skill and precision of the cyclist as he leapt and twisted his way across an obstacle course. Danny Burton had been the first person in the UK to make it to the UCI World Finals and at one time ranked number 3 in the world.
With living so far from our family it was a real pleasure to watch our granddaughter beautifully dressed as one of the two attendants for her school Rose Queen. Together with Rose Queens of the nearby villages she arrived in a procession to attend the a local village fete, with their 'carriages' being trailers pulled by tractors, one of which is in the extra and dates from 1952. (As many know I do not show family on blip but we were very proud of our beautiful granddaughter.)
It was a good afternoon in warm sunny weather and plenty of activities and things to see including falconry and model aircraft displays. Hopefully the funds raised will help the local school and historic church but most of all, the day will have added to the local community spirit in continuing the tradition of the 'wakes' which have been ongoing since Victorian times.
