Fuzzy Caterpillar

This silly thing is Bugsy's caterpillar. It's outside because one of the things Bugsy does is take a toy outside whenever he needs to greet someone. In this case, it was The Husband returning from town this morning. I have a feeling the presentation of a toy is a Boston Terrier thing, but that's based only on two previous Boston Terrier experiences. The first was the reason we ended up with a BT ourselves, back in 1994. The Husband was in Idaho with a friend, on a hiking adventure, and they stopped at a store/restaurant/bar whatever it was, where they were immediately greeted by a Boston Terrier standing ON the bar with a toy in its mouth. Well, The Husband had never even seen a BT before and came home with a bee in his bonnet about our getting one. Which we did - at no small expense, as she came with proper papers and all that stuff. We were at that time parents of two SPCA rescues, we'd always had at least one dog, never a pedigreed one before. Anyway, Fiona was with us from October 1994 until January 2010. She always greeted any arrival with a toy. After she died we said we couldn't imagine having another dog because she had been THE best dog EVER. But a month later we saw an ad for "Boston Terrier/Pug cross" puppies and went to just "look." Of course we came home with Bugsy, as you do, and he also always greets arrivals with a toy. Swee'pea, on the other hand, while she occasionally might pick up a toy and sort of try to play with it, greets arrivals only with a madly wagging body. She is always first out the door while poor Bugsy runs around trying to decide which toy would be best.

Now if we could just teach Bugs to bring his toys back in at the end of the day...
