Nurse Plant?

This nurse plant raised a telephone pole.

In the Sonoran Desert the signature plant is the Saguaro Cactus. Saguaros can be thirty or forty feet tall and begin growing "arms" when they are about 75 years old.

But how do baby saguaros survive the hot and arid seasons?

They begin their lives under the shady protection of a mesquite or palo verde tree. Soon the baby outgrows its nurse and stands taller than its former protector.

This shows a humorous variation of the phenomenon of the Nurse Plant.
