The Silver Bullet

Drama at the World Para Athletics tonight.  After arriving in glorious sunshine we were treated to thunder and lightning as the action got under way .... and rain of biblical proportions.

The guys in the 5000m came out to warm up in monsoon conditions and were offered the option of delaying their event but chose to start as the storm raged.  The race was won by Swiss, Marcel Hug, known as the Silver Bullet, seen here leading after a couple of laps as the rain began to ease a little.  The extra shows blade running women leaving the blocks in the 200m.  The lucky ones started in the outside lanes, under the shelter of the stadium roof.

We really enjoyed our day out, a great atmosphere in the stadium and everyone clearly having fun ..... although I'm not sure that 100m relay for sight impaired runners is entirely fair, passing the baton was the undoing of all four teams!
