Glencoe..

We packed up the tent and all our things, slowly, as it was again, a really hot day.  The SBG said goodbye to the wee boy in the tent close to us, and we all piled into the car and headed on up to Glencoe, stopping twice.  Once at the Green Welly for fuel, and the second time at Glencoe itself so I could get the camera out for a few pictures.
As we emerged from the car, we could hear bagpipes - and then spotted a long piper, decked out in his full getup, playing the usual 'Flower of Scotland' and the like, for the tourists, who were flocking to have their photo taken with him, with the mountains in the background.

I hope they don't think that's what all Scots do - hang around mountains in their kilts, playing the bagpipes.

We got to our campsite, found a spot, and started setting up the tent.  Being seasoned pros now, we had it done in less than half the time of the previous pitching.  Once we were set up, we jumped into the car and headed to the (overpriced) shop in Glencoe village for a few supplies (ice lollies and wine included), and then back to hang out at the campsite.  The kids soon got chatting to some other children, and happily went off to play with them, while we enjoyed doing not a lot.

After a couple of hours playing, and water fights, the SBG returned, cold, hungry and ready food.  A fire was lit and bananas with chocolate buttons were cooked and wolfed down.  Everyone was wrapped up in blankets and sleeping bags, and we settled down inside the tent (it was starting to get quite windy) to read some Harry Potter (the latest reading choice).

Iain and I sat back by the fire in the evening, but the wind was getting stronger, so in the end we extinguished the fire and headed inside too.

At about 1.30, I was woken by the wind, and went outside to find our awning had become unpegged and was flying about - so Iain was duly woken and the two of us took it down and checked the rest of the pegs. Satisfied it was all secure, we headed back to bed.....ahh, the tales of camp life!
